On 1 November 2023, Wednesday, lecture 2 was conducted on the topic “North Korea in 2023: Politics, Economics, and Society”. Dr. Paik Haksoon gave a different picture of North Korea. He talked about the policies of Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il, and Kim Jong Un. Dr. Paik also mentioned the Juche ideology of North Korea. Another interesting fact he discussed was the ‘dual identity’ of Kim Jong Un, who has a mix of east and west identity due to his education in the west. He also went through the different peace talks conducted including the Singapore and Hanoi Conferences.
